The Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) were surprised and delighted to receive a hard worked for donation from Sarah, Luke, Tom and Mike (Maghull based Saxon Tree Specialists), who removed disused Christmas trees and gave 50% of their fee to local charities with FOMD and the Women’s Hospital Honeysuckle Baby Loss charity both receiving a precious £150 donation each.

Sarah and her two highly qualified and experienced sons (Saxon Tree Specialists) previously donated an exceptional £400 to FOMD’s national award-winning Rowlands Dell NHS Green Transformation Project and have provided countless acts of kindness in support of our community activities, since they first volunteered for a morning to maintain 2500 trees that we previously planted at the MTC Pimbley Field on the 22.1.24 onwards. Since then, Sarah and her family have kindly volunteered their expertise for countless hours involving many of our projects throughout Maghull for example:

  • Planting trees at Rowlands Dell and St Gregory’s primary school.
  • Transporting lorryloads of rockery from Formby, hundreds of plants from Windmill nursery and countless large individual tree donations from the community to Rowlands Dell.
  • Provided countless tons of woodchip and logs for the Parkbourn Wildflower Garden Project and Rowlands Dell.
  • Spent days trimming hedges, strimming and raking vegetation and debris from the polluted and overgrown Rowlands Dell.
  • Countless other activities too many to mention, often including joining our volunteers and simply rolling their sleeves up to help to get our aspirations over the line.

However, even better than their countless donated hours of time and energy is the fact that the local ‘Saxon’ Family Team are always a real pleasure to meet and are consistently incredibly friendly, warm, professional, knowledgeable, hard-working, interested and interesting, whilst always remaining kind and respectful of others. Sarah is a qualified horticulturist and her family Mike, Thomas and Luke have all qualified at one of the country’s most prestigious horticultural colleges (Myerscough) receiving distinctions.

Sarah (Saxon Tree Specialist) said: “To everyone who called us to recycle a Christmas tree recently, thank you. £150 has already been given to Friends of Maghull and District to be used in continuing to make Maghull an even more beautiful place to live, and shortly the other £150 will be taken to the Women’s hospital to donate to Honeysuckle Baby Loss, to help care for and support grieving families”.

We are blessed and celebrate many community heroes but we thought it was long overdue to celebrate the unsung community kindness of Sarah, Luke, Thomas, and Mike at Saxon Tree Specialists and highly commend their service to our community.
