In recent years the Co-op in Maghull have formed year-long charity partnerships with the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) and other community groups, with their last contribution paying for the iconic galvanised metal archway at Rowlands Dell.

However, Jenna (Maghull Co-op Store Manager) had used their allocated funding for other fantastic local community causes and referred us to their sister store in Aughton where the equally friendly and helpful Sheila (store manager – pictured with colleague 16.7.25) kindly secured £150 to contribute to the Rowlands Dell crowdfunding project.

The Co-op in Aughton is a beautiful store which was created by transforming the long closed Cockbeck PH and is situated in the picturesque village centre of Aughton. On behalf of our community, we would like to express our immense gratitude for their wonderful contribution that brings us another motivational step towards our unprecedented environmental goal.

Crowdfunding Donations Needed for Rowlands Dell.

Our second milestone is so close! We are just finishing the second month of four, aiming for a 25% monthly target, currently with 108 donors who have pledged £4373 which is 49% of our £8,772 goal. To achieve the July 50% target of £4386 we just need to raise £13!

We need to raise £8772 before October (79 days!), to pay for a lower connecting path (creating a circular health and wellness walk) and a huge array of much-needed woodland plants.

To attract substantial match funding we need your kind support on our crowdfunding webpage in the form of donations (minimum £2), ‘likes’,  ‘positive comments’ and please share, as positive community engagement is a measure that can trigger match funding, involving up to 40% of our target! The website also has a short introductory video.

Background to Rowlands Dell.

This beautiful haven for wildlife has unbelievably been treated as an open tip for decades, where every inch has revealed a variety of pollutants harmful to wildlife. In our three-stage plan, stage I has resulted in Maghull’s biggest ever 46-week cleanup in which FOMD have removed 300 bin bags of litter and 25 tons of debris.

In Stage II (completed in November), with the help our NHS landowner partners we successfully obtained health and wellness grant (Maghull’s largest green investment) to fund an amazing legacy array of hard landscaping installations.  These features provided accessibility for the whole community and included: accessible path, viewing/picnic area, sunken garden, bins, 10,000 bulbs and planting at small junction points, bug and bird boxes, and a dry waterfall feature).

We are now engaging in stage three to repopulate Rowlands Dell with woodland planting and need your help.

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,

FOMD
