SUMMARY:Yet Another One Hour Maghull Miracle: Can You Help!
DESCRIPTION:One Hour Volunteer Opportunities below. \nWe have regular welcoming multi-award-winning one-hour sessions you can just drop into any time without any commitment. No special skills needed just a healthy dose of enthusiasm! \nVenue & Tasks. \nThe Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) need volunteers to meet at Rowlands Dell (adjacent to the Hare & Hounds Pub) for one hour on Thursday (2.10.25) at 09.30 hours\, to: \n\nMainly Weeding and lopping tree and suckers to make wildlife twig pile for future eco education session.\nTrim car park hedge and ivy perimeter and install banner.\nStrim grass edge near rockery.\n\nEquipment needed: sturdy boots\, garden gloves\, spade\, and garden or hand fork\, loppers. \nThank You. \nWe are always amazed by how much can be achieved in just one hour with a handful of volunteers for the good of Maghull. We met on Saturday (27.9.25) at the Rowlands Dell green restoration project and miraculously achieved the following: \n\nTrimmed perimeter Ivy hedge creating more space for pedestrians and wheelchairs/prams near the archway and removed two large agricultural bags of Ivy to the recycling centre. (Ian)\nRemoved leaves & weeds from dry waterfall rockery and leaf blowed paths\, filling one large agricultural bag to be recycled in the lower Dell (Jane\, Linda\, Dave\, Nikki\, Joan).\nEmptied three bins and mowed the newly sown grass sloping down from the picnic tables (Frank).\nWishing Well roof\, along with internal fixings for water barrel installed (Alex and his TCV Team – midweek). They also received expert stonemason advice from Ken (outgoing mayor) who was accompanied with the new Mayor of Maghull – Cllr Ross Ferguson (all pictured).\n\n\n12 ft potted conifer and four laurels donation (Nikki (pictured with conifer moustache!) & Ian)\, kindly transported by Sarah and Luke (Saxon Tree Specialists who kindly donated a dozen logs to beautifully frame the junction borders (pictured)). Old Christmas tree removed to be recycled on site and replaced by donated conifer (Frank) and four laurels planted (Nikki).\n\nPictured: At the newly weeded dry waterfall rockery Linda\, John\, Dave\, Ian\, Nikki and not pictured Joan\, Jane\, Joanne\, Sarah\, Luke\, Tom\, Christine and Frank. \nIf You Would like to Help? \n\nVolunteer sessions this week (everyone is welcome without any commitment) can be found on our Events calendar page at https://www.fomd.co.uk/events/ where you will find all the details.\nCrowdfunding Campaign. So far\, with your help\, we have raised enough money for one path extension (£7\,600) but we are hoping to raise another £7000 for another crucial connecting path and much-needed large-scale woodland shrubs. Please donate online at www.fomd.co.uk or with cash at the Hare & Hounds PH\, Morrisons\, Esso Petrol Station.\nRowlands Dell Introduction (3min Video): https://youtu.be/lxrTdudVza8?si=AM_znsaI35Cose-M\n\nBackground to Rowlands Dell. \nThis beautiful haven for wildlife has unbelievably been treated as an open tip for decades\, where every inch has revealed a variety of pollutants harmful to wildlife. In our three-stage plan\, stage I has resulted in Maghull’s biggest ever 46-week cleanup in which FOMD have removed 300 bin bags of litter and 25 tons of debris. \nIn Stage II (completed in November)\, with the help of our NHS landowner partners we successfully obtained a health and wellness grant (Maghull’s largest green investment) to fund an amazing legacy array of hard landscaping installations. These features provided accessibility for the whole community and included: accessible path\, viewing/picnic area\, sunken garden\, bins\, 10\,000 bulbs and planting at small junction points\, bug and bird boxes\, and a dry waterfall feature). A Morrisons grant has enabled us to create the ongoing bog garden and wishing well. \nWe are now engaging in stage three to repopulate Rowlands Dell with woodland planting and need your help. \nBest Wishes\, \nFriends of Maghull & District (FOMD) \nTogether making Maghull a better place to live. \n  \nMore information at www.fomd.co.uk including: (1) Events tab for everything about the meeting and (2) Projects tab for the project background. \nContact: admin@fomd.co.uk \n#fomdcic #Maghull #Environment \n \n

SUMMARY:Award Winning (!) FOMD AGM (Wednesday 29.10.25)
DESCRIPTION:Award Winning (!) FOMD AGM (Wednesday 29.10.25) \nI have booked the Hare & Hounds Pub (far right-hand side as you come through the main entrance will be curtained off for us) from 17:00 hours to 19:00 hours (but I don’t anticipate it lasting 2hrs). \n\nEveryone volunteer is welcome of course but please get back to me to confirm your attendance to help with arrangements.\nFor reference I have sent the draft minutes of our last meeting (29.5.25).\n\nWe haven’t planned to have a meal on this occasion but you are welcome to if you want of course. Diane suggested we should try and organise a Christmas meal at some stage. \nWe normally plan to have six meetings (one every two months) a year and this will only be our fourth\, mainly due to prioritising all the successful crowdfunding meetings we’ve been having instead! \nConsequently\, this is our annual general meeting (AGM) which is the same as a normal meeting but with the addition of viewing our reported accounts and activities (2023/24). \nLooking forward to seeing you again\, \nFrank
