SUMMARY:Volunteers Needed for the Beautiful Rowlands Dell Where Bluebells & Alliums Are Taking Centre Stage.
DESCRIPTION:The dazzling display of daffodils have now faded and replaced by a unbelievable carpet of white and blue bells and Alliums. However\, the white looks like white bluebells\, smelling like garlic\, but in fact are three cornered leak (due to their triangular stems). Nevertheless\, you will be blown away by their magical display. Can you help with the ongoing transformation? \nVenue & Tasks. \nThe Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) need volunteers to meet at Rowlands Dell (adjacent to the Hare & Hounds Pub) for one hour on Saturday (3.5.25) at 09:30 hours\, to: \n\nWheelbarrow recently donated woodchip to be spread in various parts of the Dell to suppress weeds and hydrate plants.\nContinue removing and bagging debris created from Yew tree planting – whilst it is still visible to prevent damaging tools during future maintenance work.\nWater some recently kindly donated plants and Yew tree hedge.\nDig out sprouting brambles.\n\nEquipment needed: sturdy boots\, garden gloves\, spade\, and wheelbarrow. \nHuge thanks for any help you can provide and if you can’t make it please consider a financial donation to boost our green restoration planting spectacular by visiting www.fomd.co.uk and hit the yellow donation button at the top right of the page. \nLots more volunteer opportunities will be coming up soon\, so please keep an eye on our events calendar. \nThank You  \nThank you to John (L)\, John (W) and Frank for undertake the following: \n\nLitter picking\nWatering of new plant donations and thoroughly watered the Yew tree hedge courtesy of our neighbour and her hosepipe.\nEmptied two bins.\nCreated three more wildlife twig piles and consolidated the rest of the vegetation and debris to be removed next week.\nThroughout the week Frank inserted multiple logs to populate the log arch installation (28–30.4.25) whilst Sarah gratefully donated further logs for the archway and path border (29.4.25). Paul and Harry Richards also kindly donated several tons of woodchip and some larger logs for the archway (27.4.25)\n\nHuge thanks to one and all\, \nFOMD \nTogether making Maghull a better place to live. \nBackground to Rowlands Dell. \nThis beautiful haven for wildlife has unbelievably been treated as an open tip for decades\, where every inch has revealed a variety of pollutants harmful to wildlife. In our three-stage plan\, stage I has resulted in Maghull’s biggest ever 46-week cleanup in which FOMD have removed 266 bin bags of litter and 25 tons of debris. In the two months of Stage II\, that was completed in November\, with our NHS landowner partners (expertly installed by subcontractors – PR England Landscapers) using a health and wellness grant fund (representing Maghull’s largest green investment) have installed an amazing legacy array of hard landscaping installations to provide accessibility for the whole community (accessible path\, viewing/picnic area\, sunken garden\, bins\, 10\,000 bulbs and planting at small junction points\, bug and bird boxes\, and a dry waterfall feature). We are now engaging in stage three to repopulate Rowlands Dell with woodland planting and need your help. \nMore information at www.fomd.co.uk including: (1) Events tab for everything about the meeting and (2) Projects tab for the project background. \nMore information. www.fomd.co.uk \nContact: admin@fomd.co.uk \n#fomdcic #Maghull #Environment \n \n
