SUMMARY:Wildflower Preparation in Maghull: Can you help?
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Maghull & District next one hour session (in which everyone is welcome without any commitment)\, will be meeting at our Stafford Moreton Way Project (near Rainbow the rhinoceros)\, to prepare the ground for more wildflower seed planting\, at 09:30 hours on Thursday 7.11.24. \nTask: We will be weeding and raking the area to reduce competitive weeds and vegetation to reduce the fertile soil as wildflowers\, thrive on low fertile soil. If time permits\, we will replace a tree that sadly did not survive. \nEquipment:  You will need garden gloves and sturdy boots\, garden and hand fork\, and a light rake. \nThank you to: Ros\, Jill\, Mark (pictured) and Colin and Frank\, who last week used 50 self-seeded transplanted trees from Woodend and planted them in the available space is at our previously planted woodland at Old Hall Park. We were amazed how the 1015 (previously planted in 2021) trees have grown beyond 5 foot in many cases. \nFor our massive tree planting program in Maghull later in the year please register your interest by emailing admin@fomd.co.uk with your contact details and we will be delighted to get back to you to offer you some dates for our community tree planting program. \nMore information at www.fomd.co.uk including: (1) Events tab for everything about the meeting and (2) Projects tab for the project background. \nAll the Best\, \nFOMD \nTogether Making Maghull a better place to live. \nMore information and for any last-minute changes please check ‘Events’ at: www.fomd.co.uk \nContact: admin@fomd.co.uk \n#fomdcic #Maghull #Environment \n@greensefton_

SUMMARY:Stargazing Evening at Lunt Meadows
DESCRIPTION:Fantastic Nature Events on Maghull’s Doorstep at Lunt Meadows: supported by the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD). \nAbout the event \nJoin us at Lunt Meadows for an evening of stargazing with an experienced astronomer. Using spotting scopes and binoculars\, you will learn how to find stars and other celestial objects. \nThis will be a perfect event for beginners with binoculars but if you have a spotting scope or a telescope you already know how to set up then please feel free to bring it along. We ask that you do not bring large torches\, as they will reduce your night vision but do bring a small torch that emits a red light if you feel that you will need one. \nPlease note that as Lunt Meadows is an exposed site without indoor space\, this event is weather dependent. Do bring layers and dress appropriately for a winter evening. \nHot drinks will be provided so bring your own mug/flask (vegan options available). \nBook Here: \nhttps://www.lancswt.org.uk/events/2024-11-17-stargazing-evening-lunt-meadows
