Please can you help to give the Parkbourn Wildflower Garden its annual TLC with a quick tidy up involving some weeding and planting a Belfast sink!!

Venue The Parkbourn Project is a little tricky to find. It is situated on the rear service road of (45) Parkbourn Square (L31 1JD off Park Lane), also listed on Google maps.

Time. Meeting for one hour on Wednesday 4.6.25, at 09:30 hours.

Task. We will be focusing on simple but important weeding and planting a Belfast sink  (as a wildlife water feature, courtesy of Linda and Dave) in the small outer border and path that has four layers including (1) the rear dogwood hedge developing to cover the stark railings, (2) in front there is a row of 72 white hydrangea cuttings blossoming, and (3) in front of this there is a row of assorted plants, whilst the (4) daffodils and bluebells that fringe the path have now finished blossoming. Possibly, continuing to fill in the amazing bug hotel with bamboo and twigs.

Equipment: You will need garden gloves, sturdy boots, large or small garden fork and secateurs.

Thank you to Joanne, Linda, Jill (pictured) Colin and Frank (not pictured) on 23.5.25. Not only for the fantastic outcomes in one hour but for their good-humoured company for our first of two one-hour session to give an annual tidy up at our old and very first modest green transformation project (2018) at Maghull’s Parkbourn today.

In the short one-hour, we filled a large agricultural bag from:

  • Trimming our previously planted dogwood hedge.
  • Weeded the outer border to improve the past donated shrubs.
  • Weeded the woodchip access path.

Parkbourn Background:

The Friends of Maghull District’s (FOMD) first (2018) of many local green transformations. This small area had been blighted with 20 years of antisocial and fly tipping behaviour, was transformed into a much-visited inspiring green wildlife oasis. Lots more volunteer opportunities will be coming up soon, so please keep an eye on our events calendar.

Many Thanks,
