Winter Tree Maintenance Event: Looking for a Tree-Mendous Date Post Valentine Day, in Maghull?
19 February 2023 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
| FreeAs part of our ‘One Hour for Maghull Initiative’ we would be delighted to welcome you and no commitment necessary, just turn up whenever it suits you on any of the occasions we will listed on our calendar. Just fresh air and exercise and good feeling that you have made a difference for the community.
On this occasion, we have another one hour session on Sunday (19.2.23) at 13.30hrs at Hall Lane Park (at the Old Hall Lane West entrance, near the Baptist Church L31 3DY). We will be weeding by removing grass from inside the tree guards in some our young previously community planted trees in 2021/22. Removing the weeds makes a massive difference to the tree growth as evidenced from the Mersey Forest picture.
Please bring garden gloves.

Huge thanks for our last four Give One Hour events:
(9.2.23) Pimbley Project Hedge Work: Unbelievably Joan and Paul demolished four tons of wood chippings (courtesy of free donation from Paul Richards local tree surgeons) and spread it around the second half of the huge newly planted hedge trees, to give them a fighting chance to survive into a mature hedge that sadly was historically removed.
(12.2.23 am) Pimbley Project Annual Winter Tree Work: half of the trees have been weeded and tidied this morning.
(12.2.23 pm) Litter Picking Park Lane up to the motorway services resulted in another weekly three bin bags.
(12.2.23 pm) Maghull North train station book swap scheme: books donated and shelves tidied.

Many thanks to Joan and Paul For spreading all the wood chippings under the hedge as far as the eye can see behind them. In addition, many thanks to Audrey (Local neighbour) for the kind refreshments

The amazing difference weeding can make to the growth of the trees

The type of work involved in removing the grass from some of the trees to give them a fighting chance to survive.

All the trees sorted in Pimbley field (1 of 2 areas)

The Valentine day tidy up will be here in the second tree enclosure at Pimbley Field
