On the 7.10.25 the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) with the support of our community were humbled to win the prestigious UK BBC One Show/RHS Growing Together Community Garden Award, from hundreds of national nominees, for the unprecedented volunteering at the Rowlands NHS Dell Health and Wellness Green Transformation Project (more information in the projects tab at www.fomd.co.uk).
We were absolutely delighted to accept an invitation from Nikki Fennah (award-winning horticulturist) and her husband Ian, to belatedly celebrate this incredible ongoing accomplishment following several years of tireless daily work by our amazing volunteers, to have a celebratory Christmas party at her beautiful house and garden on 12.12.25. We can’t thank Nikki and Ian enough not only for the overdue opportunity to get together but for opening their garden earlier in the year to raise significant funds towards our successful Rowlands Dell £15,000 crowdfunding target.
It was a lovely opportunity to belatedly pause and take in the enormity of what our small unsung group has achieved in this project and many others, and although it was difficult to get the whole group together still, it was an absolute delight to have so much fun with friends who are some of the warmest and kindest people I’ve had the privilege to share time with and are such a shining inspiration to our Maghull community.
A huge thank you to our FOMD volunteers at the party, and the rest of the group, also including the wider community who have been so kind and generous throughout the year in so many significant ways.
