Seqirus Vaccines are world leaders in protecting our community in so many ways from advanced vaccine solutions to sustainable practices.
However, we were surprised and delighted to receive a £500 donation (2.7.25) and a volunteer planting support day (8.12.25) from the prestigious Seqirus Vaccines which has a large base in Speke, to progress our Rowlands Dell NHS Health and Wellness Green Transformation Project.
Seqirus fantastic donation really boosted our crowdfunding target of £15,000 to create an 85m extension to our NHS health and wellness path and purchase 600 ferns and 1200 daffodils. Thus, enabling our towns largest ever green space volunteer project that was subject to 30 years of profound neglect and pollution to be transformed into a cherished, accessible, legacy, restorative haven for the community and wildlife. Our ongoing transformation work has not gone unnoticed, astonishingly resulting in the project actually winning the prestigious UK RHS/BBC One Show – ‘Growing Together’ Community Garden Award!
We were privileged to be joined by eight incredibly friendly and hard-working volunteers ably led by Sarah-Jayne Smith (Seqirus Social Value Lead UK and Ireland) who kindly joined nine of our amazing FOMD volunteers for the en masse fern and bulb planting volunteer day (8.12.25) at Rowlands Dell, which coincided with the installation of the new 50m of an eventual 85m path extension. Sarah-Jayne kindly returned on Thursday (11.12.25) for a couple of hours, to help spread tons of donated woodchip to act as a mulch around the newly planted ferns.

Gratitude. On behalf of our community the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) would like to convey our immense gratitude to Seqirus and particularly their Social Value Lead, Head of Engineering and wonderful volunteer team, for their super friendly kind support in offering financial and volunteer support, to help improve our local environment for the benefit of our whole community and wildlife for years ahead.

Rowlands Dell Introduction (3min Video): https://youtu.be/lxrTdudVza8?si=AM_znsaI35Cose-M
Background to Rowlands Dell.
This beautiful haven for wildlife has unbelievably been treated as an open tip for decades, where every inch has revealed a variety of pollutants harmful to wildlife. In our three-stage plan, stage I has resulted in Maghull’s biggest ever 46-week cleanup in which FOMD have removed 300 bin bags of litter and 25 tons of debris.
In Stage II (completed in November), with the help of our NHS landowner partners we successfully obtained a health and wellness grant (Maghull’s largest green investment) to fund an amazing legacy array of hard landscaping installations. These features provided accessibility for the whole community and included: accessible path, viewing/picnic area, sunken garden, bins, 10,000 bulbs and planting at small junction points, bug and bird boxes, and a dry waterfall feature). A Morrisons grant has enabled us to create the ongoing bog garden and wishing well.
We are now engaging in stage three to repopulate Rowlands Dell with woodland planting and need your help.
Best Wishes,
Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD)
