Thank You to the unsung Sgt Olivia Quinn (pictured R) and her Merseyside Police Team for one of our largest donations (£713) for Maghull’s community led – Rowlands Dell Big Green Transformation Project.
We were one of 15 brilliant hard working community projects in L31 to receive funds seized from criminal proceeds to reduce antisocial behaviour and the impact on victims in Maghull and Lydiate.
Merseyside Police organised a community-led initiative (Thursday 10 July) as local groups gathered at Lydiate Village Centre for the ‘Lifting Limits in L31’ Participatory Budget Event, with funds released in September.
Organised by Sergeant Olivia Quinn from the South Sefton Local Policing Team, the event brought together 15 community groups who had submitted funding bids of up to £3,000 to support projects aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour in the L31 area, using money seized from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
The evening, held at the Lydiate Village Centre, provided an opportunity for groups to present their proposals, build connections, and strengthen community ties. Pictured L-R Constable Ben Beckett, PCSO Natalie O’Neill, PCSO Diane Brady Chief Inspector Jordan Quinn (compered the event), Sergeant Olivia Quinn and not pictured Inspector Ken Sumner.
Each group delivered a presentation outlining their plans to tackle anti-social behaviour through positive community engagement. Attendees then scored each other’s proposals, resulting in six winners and nine runners-up—ensuring no group left empty-handed. Unfortunately, the FOMD’s presentation was inaudible due to problems with police speakers but is available as an attachment. Nevertheless, all the worthy winners and runners up all received precious contributions that will make a significant difference to our grateful community. https://youtu.be/Buqc34Q13Y0
