30 July @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
| FreeWe have created multiple award-winning changes to Maghull and all it takes is the occasional one hour of your time without any commitment. The Woodend project has been absolute environmental triumph and just needs some finishing annual maintenance with your help, so we can start focusing elsewhere.
Venue & Tasks. The Friends of Maghull
The Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) need volunteers to meet at Woodend (next to Bumbles Children’s Nursery, junction of Liverpool Road South and Northway) for one hour on Wednesday (24.7.25) at 09.30 hours, to:
- finish weeding the border (end in sight!)
Equipment needed: sturdy boots, garden gloves, spade, hand and garden fork and kneeling pad.
Thank You to Joan and Colin (and extra thank you for sharing some amazing self-grown allotment fruit and veg) for last week’s session (24.7.25) who undertook the following:
- Filled another agricultural bag of weeds that was taken for recycling.
- tidied up John Barrowman and Reindeer in border. This
DONATIONS NEEDED PLEASE!
In the meantime, we really need your support to boost our crowdfunding donations to enable the completion of this fantastic community project at Rowlands Dell.
We need to raise £8775 before October (85 days!), to pay for a lower connecting path (creating a circular health and wellness walk) and a huge array of much-needed woodland plants.
To attract potential match funding we have established a new (5.6.25) donation page (£3848 raised to date 28.7.25 representing 43%) Your support in the form of donations (minimum £2), ‘likes’ and ‘positive comments’, is a measure that can trigger match funding, involving up to 40% of our target.
Please encourage everyone you know to donate any amount, ‘like’ and post a positive comment. The website also has a short introductory video

Background to Rowlands Dell.
This beautiful haven for wildlife has unbelievably been treated as an open tip for decades, where every inch has revealed a variety of pollutants harmful to wildlife. In our three-stage plan, stage I has resulted in Maghull’s biggest ever 46-week cleanup in which FOMD have removed 266 bin bags of litter and 25 tons of debris.
In Stage II (completed in November), with the help our NHS landowner partners we successfully obtained health and wellness grant (Maghull’s largest green investment) to fund an amazing legacy array of hard landscaping installations. These features provided accessibility for the whole community and included: accessible path, viewing/picnic area, sunken garden, bins, 10,000 bulbs and planting at small junction points, bug and bird boxes, and a dry waterfall feature).
We are now engaging in stage three to repopulate Rowlands Dell with woodland planting and need your help.
Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
