Maghull is incredibly indebted for the unprecedented community kindness from Winvic Construction and their subcontractors Huyton Asphalt and L&R Roadlines who for free have recently completed approximately £10,000 worth of work to restore a 56m crumbling dangerous access path at the Friends of Maghull & District’s (FOMD) big green Rowlands Dell NHS partnered restoration project in Maghull. It has been a complete godsend, and we really can’t thank them enough for their amazing kindness.
FOMD approached Winvic Construction for advice and support late last year, whilst they were working on a massive construction to create the impressive Atlantic Park Warehouses on Dunnings Bridge Road. To our surprise and delight they promptly explored what could be possible despite their considerable workload, which gratefully resulted in the following:
- this Emma Rhymes (Winvic Social Value Manager) liaised with her local on-site team.
- Gareth Orchard (Winvic Project Site Manager) and his incredibly helpful colleague Josh Carter (Winvic Quantity Surveyor) liaised with FOMD and Winvic’s fantastic subcontractors James Mullings (Huyton Asphalt), Richard Hale (HA Groundworks) and Michael Littleboy (L&R Roadlines).
- Huyton Asphalt (13.3.25) – their three-man team worked all day cleaning, repairing and replacing the kerbs.
- L&R Roadlines (6.5.25) their three-man team worked all day cleaning, filling and applied a beautiful resilient surface binder (MMA Pumatrack) and the last few metres were beautifully completed on the 20.6.25.
Everyone we have met from the above altruistic teams have been incredibly professional and enormously friendly throughout. They have left our community with a fantastic legacy by improving safety and usability for everyone, especially those with mobility challenges. Thus, enabling the whole community to benefit from this green restoration health and wellbeing sanctuary for the community and local wildlife.

This beautiful haven for wildlife (between Hare & Hounds Pub & Medical Centre) has unbelievably been treated as an open tip for decades, where every inch has revealed a variety of pollutants harmful to wildlife. In our three-stage plan, stage I has resulted in Maghull’s biggest ever 46-week cleanup in which FOMD have removed 266 bin bags of litter and 25 tons of debris. In the two months of Stage II, that was completed in November, with our NHS landowner partners (expertly installed by subcontractors – PR England Landscapers) using a health and wellness grant fund (representing Maghull’s largest green investment) have installed an amazing legacy array of hard landscaping installations to provide accessibility for the whole community (new accessible path, viewing/picnic area, sunken garden, bins, 10,000 bulbs and planting at small junction points, bug and bird boxes, and a dry waterfall feature). We are now engaging in stage three to repopulate Rowlands Dell with woodland planting and need your help.
